Stupid library touch screen system
Sam says ...
I know not many people are about at the moment, but is the stupid touch screen system at the library hacking anyone else off? At the hospital library the other day I tried to use the brand new looking touch screen computer to add credit to my account but try as I might the system logged me as inputting the wrong characters, as though I was some ham fisted buffoon. Then my housemate tells me yesterday that the ones at Hartley library are broken too. Luckily the old machines still appear to be functional (in the hospital library anyway).
Why bother changing from the old (reliable) keyboard system? Has the sudden prevalence of iPhone adverts convinced the ISS that only touch screens are an adequate method of data input or were these installed simply to impress open day students? Either way when will ISS learn that if it ain't broke don't try to fix it? ( for further examples see changing the mail system mid year and forcing us to change our passwords every 6 months or risk having our accounts locked).
