Within the next week all new post graduate students should receive an invitation to the post graduate welcome event, which is on Tuesday 30th September from 11am to 2pm. This will contain information about the event, and a reply slip so that you can sign up to the event.

There is also a post graduate and mature students quiz night on Wednesday 1st October at 7pm in The Bridge Bar, which is another great opportunity to meet new people and show off your pub quiz knowledge at the same time!

If you do not receive your invitation, or have any other queries about the event or SUSU and the support on offer the please contact me on education@susu.org.

Hi

I am a new post Graduate srudent in ECS School form Iran, I was in Southampton before and I like it so much, I am so excited and a little bit worry.

Hey Nikolaos, I thinkk we are in same school, as I am going to study PG in computer science.

The box office has mentioned that fresher week events are postponed because of bad weather until 10 Oct, so I wonder where can we meet each other.

Hiya,

My name is Amanda and I'm coming over from the US to study for a MA in Global Security. It's going to be a huge change, but I'm excited! I'm also a representative of Democrats Abroad, so if there are any Americans out there - or anyone at all interested in American politics - contact me! With some luck I should be arranging some events to get people registered to vote, and get out absentee ballots. Even if you're not American feel free to e-mail me and get involved... or at least get an incredibly cool Obama/Biden '08 sticker. :-)

Hey...I am also from Bournemouth about to start my masters at Southampton. I am doing Management Science, so not that far off from Operational Research. I've been at the uni for the last 3 years studying Geography and have just graduated. I love it at Southampton so I am sure you'll have a great time! There is a postgrad welcome event on the 30th, so that'll be a good oppurtunity to meet other people in the same boat.

Ah yeah ive heard Management Science is similar to Op research thats cool :) are you commuting or you staying in halls? and whats this about a postgrad meeting thing? when and where i need to get myself booked off work for it ;) cant wait to start though going to be alot of fun! and you internationals will be fine :) if Derby is anything to go by you will really enjoy it here

I'm living in a house with some of my friends from my undergrad course, so i wont be commuting...in fact I'll be 5 mins walk away from uni. As Joe said in an earlier post, you should be recieving a letter with all the info about the postgrad welcome event very soon! It should be good! I think Op research, Management and Management Science all share some modules, so it'd be great to meet you guys!

Hi Daniel.

I know a couple of people at Southampton already doing/about to start Chemistry pHDs, they all really enjoy it! I am trying to persuade them to come along to the Postgrad welcome event on the 30th September, so chemists new to the uni can meet them and get an insiders view!
